Front Leandros and snowfall in Crete

Just a few days ago, we wrote about the January heat that appeared in Crete, giving residents the opportunity to breathe from the winter weather. Today we will show you videos that are more relevant to the current season.

In Crete, the first light snowfall appeared in several villages located above 500 m above sea level. Snow also fell in places located even higher, e.g. on the Omalos plateau ( 1041 m) in the White Mountains. However, the most wintry climate prevails around the Psiloritis massif in the Mylopotamos commune, which you will be able to see in the videos below.

The Leandros front, which came from the north, is responsible for the significant deterioration of the weather, rain and snowfall in Greece. Weather stations in the northern part of mainland Greece recorded the following temperatures: Mesovouno Kozani (-19.3C), Koilada Kozanis (-19.3C), Kitrini Limni Kozanis (-17.6C), Nevrokopi (-15.7C) and Florina (- 15.5C). In Crete, where last week it was 26-28 degrees warm, now the temperature does not exceed 12 degrees. From tomorrow, however, the temperature in Crete will start to increase, so in the lower areas it will surely turn to spring again.
