The recently published Risk Map 2025 classifies Greece as a “low risk” country for travel, highlighting the country’s resilience to potential crises. The Risk Map is an interactive tool, developed by Safeture and Riskline, that assesses global travel risk on five levels: negligible, low, medium, high and critical.
The map assesses safety, crime, healthcare quality, political unrest, and the risk of sudden climate events such as storms and floods. Regular updates are designed to help you plan safer trips.
Greece has been placed in the “low risk” category, which includes countries considered safe for travelers due to their resilience and effective management of most crises and threats. However, potential travelers should be aware that criminal activity, terrorism and natural disasters can still pose random, sporadic risks. For example, Greece’s neighbor Albania has been classified as a “moderate risk” country, along with Turkey and Egypt.
According to Risk Map 2025, some European countries remain stable, but increased risks are visible in countries such as France, Spain and the UK, which are currently classified as “medium risk”. Meanwhile, Germany, Switzerland and the Nordic countries are rated as among the safest destinations.
Globally, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand maintain “low risk” classifications, while conditions have improved in Argentina, Morocco and China.
According to Risk Map 2025, overall security has deteriorated in 77 countries, particularly in the Middle East. The Maldives has also been reclassified from “low” to “moderate risk” due to political instability and climate-related concerns. Countries such as Sudan, Niger and some African countries remain in the highest risk categories.
Risk Map 2025 shows that poor healthcare infrastructure in some countries also increases risk. Limited access to basic medical supplies and emergency care exacerbates potential health risks. Haiti is an example of such a country. Diseases that would be easily curable in other parts of the world can become a real threat here.
