Medea brings winter to Greece

Medea is the name of one of the most important figures in Greek mythology and ... the name of the atmospheric front that has brought the weather to Greece much worse in recent hours. Snowfall has occurred in many places. Also in Crete, Medea reminded us that it is astronomical winter. Snow has appeared in the mountains, the Lassithi and Kalikratis plateaus and the higher regions, and rain has appeared in the lower regions. More snowfall is expected at night over much of the island.

In the video below you can see the Anogia village under the snow. The film was made available by the mayor of this town.

Additionally, Medea has grounded ships in ports. Ferries from Piraeus to Crete, the Dodecanese and Cyclades islands are prohibited from leaving the port as the Aegean winds are 9-10 Beaufort. It is expected that this ban will apply until Wednesday.
