Heraklion is both the capital of Crete and the largest city of the island. Despite the relatively modern buildings bustling with everyday life, it is worth adding it to your holiday plans, because you will find many interesting museums and other places worth visiting. Heraklion is also a city that is not without charming corners. It is worth mentioning, for example, the very picturesque Venetian Harbor or the city walls.

One of the most interesting elements constituting the historical buildings of Heraklion is the Koules fortress. In the video below you can see from the air this building closing the entrance to the Venetian Harbor. Although even from the perspective of today, the fortress seems to be a well-thought-out, well-planned building located in a strategic point of the coast, its actual use has revealed many imperfections.
