This year's Orthodox Easter falls on the same date as the Catholic Easter. The most popular destinations for Greeks and many tourists from other countries during this period are Crete. Increased traffic is visible primarily at the airports. The occupancy rate of flights from Athens and Thessaloniki to Heraklion and Chania ranges from 75 to even 95%, and this applies to both domestic and international flights. Both Greeks who go to their hometowns for the holidays or choose Crete for a short break, as well as foreign tourists who want to spend the holidays on the island, travel.
The data shows that the post-holiday returns are planned from April 23 to 26.

Other places that are most popular among Greeks during this pre-holiday period are Rhodes, the Cyclades, including the gradually returning Santorini, as well as Corfu, Kos and Chios. Those who decide to travel abroad most often choose large cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Lisbon. Malta, Dubrovnik, Sofia, Ljubljana and Izmir are also becoming increasingly popular.
The peak moment of air traffic is expected next Thursday, when the first serious delays are expected. On that day, a large part of the residents of Athens and Thessaloniki will begin their Easter travels. According to the data, post-holiday returns are planned from April 23 to 26.
